Below you’ll find a basic outline of a campout weekend. It looks like a lot, but keep in mind, all activities are optional. Even if you did everything, there’s a whole lot of down time to spend 1:1 with your daughter or to unwind as she plays with friends.
Each campout there's a pack that gets to host the campout. They come up with activities and a theme for the weekend.
We arrive in the afternoon and early evening and setup camp.
The hosting pack cooks up dinner for the camp. We’ll usually have a camp wide gathering together or a big screen movie.
Sometimes we’ll have Friday “mid-rats” (midnight rations) after the little ones have gone to sleep. It’s a good time to meet dads throughout the Coyote, and some older girls join in too!
Breakfast time with your pack. Meals are communally with your pack.
The hosting pack will often have some activity or challenge for the Coyote Cup. Usually lots of chill time or a group hike.
lunch with your pack
The hosting group might have some other activity or competition + more free time.
Bead trading for the girls; a good way for them to mingle camp wide and develop social and negotiating skills
with your pack
Big Chief and Med host a camp wide gathering. We share various activities like talent shows, dance parties, sing alongs or something educational/entertaining – with the hosting group contributing. Lasts about an hour.
Afterwards you can go have s’more’s at your pack's own campfire. Usually we’ll get a visit from Big Chief and Med who will give out special patches and beads to recognize the girls accomplishments and good deeds
“Mid-rats” (midnight rations) is on! Some groups make some casual nosh to share with all of Coyote, others go epic. Time to meet dads wandering from campsite to campsite, and some older girls join in too.
Time for your packs to have their final meal together as we casually break down camp.
Our final big meeting of the weekend is called Zocolo. We reminisce on the great times of the weekend, award the Coyote Cup, give shout outs to girls for the great things they did, along with awarding the best “Mid Rats.” Oh, and who could forget - the hosting chief's daughters get to pie their dads in the face!
Sometimes we hang out a little longer, or hit up a place for lunch together on the way back.
See you next time!
